SIMPLE TIPS WHILE BUYING HEALTH INSURANCE

A) Health policy:-
1. Policies without sub-limits are better although they charge higher premiums.
2. Opt for insurer having tie-ups with reputed hospitals that you would prefer to go to.
3. It's even better if these hospitals are close to your house.
4. Stay away from policies that have too many exclusions or where cooling-off period is very long.
5. Opt for plans that cover maximum number of day-care procedures.
6. Opt for policies that also cover non-allopathic treatments, even if premium is higher.
B) Family Floater policy:-
1. It is cheaper than separate plans for two individuals.
2. It is costlier for a family with older members.
3. It spreads the cost and reduces the premium per person.
C) Critical Illness policy / rider:-
1. Buy it as a standalone policy instead of as a rider.
2. Or buy rider with your life insurance cover, as premium is lower than with a basic medical insurance plan.
