1. Non-Defence employees can open a SCSS A/c if:
a) age is 60+ on resignation,
b) age is 55+ on official retirement,
c) age is 55+ on official VRS quitting.
2. For 1b) and 1c), SCSS A/c has to be opened within 30 days of receipt of retirement benefits, and SCSS A/c shouldn't exceed them, even if lesser than allowed amount.
3. The Retirement / VRS documents issued by the company will suffice for opening SCSS A/c, besides proof of identity, age and residence.
