YOUNG EARNERS LEAD SIP REVOLUTION IN MUTUAL FUNDS

1. Till Oct'18, AMCs have freshly added 10 lacs SIP accounts each month on an average during last 7 months of this fiscal, with average SIP size of 3,200 per account.

2. Total SIP accounts now stand at 2.49 crore, accounting for SIP collection of 7,985 crore last month.

3. Out of total 23.15 lakh crore AUM, individual investors' share is 12.3 lakh crore, of which 8.3 lakh crore is in equity MFs alone, an increase of 20% over October'17.

4. MF advisers / distributors have gone on record that most new SIP investors are in their 20s, primarily because of:
a) growing awareness about SIP benefits,
b) ease in investing affordable small amounts,
c) being more digital-savvy while investing, and
d) more awareness in AMCs about changed clientele.

5. Even continuing only 3,000 SIP in few top rated Multicap funds, a young earner can build 1 Crore retirement corpus in 30 earning years at 12% CAGR (currently 16-18%, so even 1,000 SIP will suffice to begin).
